RESTRUCTURING & DEBT RECOVERY

We advise clients on insolvency issues including cross-border insolvencies in the region.

We assist debtors, creditors, and equity shareholders in negotiations with insolvent parties; aid companies in restructuring their financial affairs; and represent clients before local courts in bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings.

Recent Representative Matters:

• Represented several multinational companies and a group of British buyers in cases of debt collection which amounted to over EGP25 million, where severe procedures had been taken against the adversaries (travel ban, ban of disposal, dismissal from the public position) and collecting the total amount of debts
• Advised IFC and other lenders (including DEG) on the US $400 million refinancing of the Iraqi operations of a Kuwaiti mobile telecommunications company
