The Libyan Supreme Court Rules on State Liability for Acts by Irregular Armed Forces

On 17th November 2020, the Libyan Supreme Court issued a decision holding that the Libyan State is responsible for damages incurred by civilians caused by belligerent activities undertaken by the Libyan regular army as well as irregular armed forces fighting alongside
the army. Through its decision, the court set the standards for the State regarding supervisory duties over irregular armed forces.
