Ahmed Helmy is an accomplished attorney with over 15 years of experience working in top-tier local and international law firms. His career spans leadership roles, including serving as Head of Legal for one of the leading Chinese industrial developers in Egypt. Ahmed began his legal journey with ALC before joining the M&A and Banking & Finance practices at Baker McKenzie Cairo as a Senior Associate for three years. Most recently, he has been a consultant and attorney at a boutique firm in Montreal, Canada, where he has been advising clients for the past two years.
In 2024, Ahmed relocated to the GCC region to join AMERELLER’s team as Of Counsel in their KSA associated office, further expanding his international legal practice. His current focus includes providing high-level advisory services across the GCC markets focusing on KSA.
Ahmed has successfully managed and closed mergers and acquisitions (M&A), project finance, and financing deals with a combined value exceeding $20 billion across a wide array of industries. His experience spans sectors such as technology, FMCGs, construction, hospitality, telecommunications, logistics, transportation, industrial projects, and education. He has also structured cross-border technology acquisitions and advised both local and international investors in Egypt.
Ahmed’s expertise extends beyond M&A into advising borrowers, leading banks, and financial institutions on syndicated facilities, loans, project finance, debt settlements, and restructuring. Recently, he oversaw the multi-jurisdictional sale of a technology company based in Montreal and other jurisdictions, valued at $8 million and has advised numerous clients on commercial agreements, internal policies, and supplier and end-user contracts.
Ahmed served as an instructor of Business Law for the German Chamber of Commerce’s Quick MBA Program in Egypt, and as a business law instructor at Misr International University.
He is currently based between Egypt, UAE, KSA and Canada, and is building strong ties between the Canadian, Egyptian, and GCC legal and financial markets.
